Can you believe it's already March! This year has been flying by, but you know I can't wait to get into the spring season. The yucky transition period between winter and spring is majorly confusing because the temperature varies so much across the day and the roads are filled with slush. I like to stick to basics during this time can be worn year-round. Layering with scarfs and jackets is also key to making your lighter pieces work during this time.
As you may (or may not) have noticed, I loveee a bit of caramel so I chose to focus this look around that colour. Camel and caramel were both trending for FW14 and you can expect them to continue as big players well into next fall. The sportswear trend is also going strong and here I've incorporated a touch with these track-pant-like trousers. I love that they are cropped and have a contrast tie at the waist. I actually featured these pants in last week's post and I could not wait any longer to style them. The fabric is very luxurious and it makes sure the pants don't look like something you would actually wear to the gym.
I decided to go with all caramel accessories just to play a little bit with the idea of monochrome. The purse is just the perfect size to take on the go because it fits all my essentials (wallet, phone, lipsticks, etc.), but it isn't too bulky. These Chelsea booties are great for everyday wear as well because they have a thick block heel that is comfortable and the pointed toe elongates the leg especially when paired with matching pants.
To pull it all together I topped off the outfit with a reliable light denim chambray. I think every girl needs a chambray button down shirt in her closet because they offer so many styling options. A chambray can be worn as a casual piece, like I've done here, by pairing it with a simple pant; it can worn tucked into a skirt for work; it can be worn over a dress in the summer as an extra layer. This particular shirt is insanely soft (you have to feel it to believe it) and I think it fits pretty darn well. I think the light blue colour balances out all the caramel tones and keeps it from becoming overwhelming.
I hope you enjoyed this post. I'll be wearing more pieces from my spring inspiration board as the weather warms up! Comment below with your thoughts on matching your pants, shoes, and purse (when I put it like this, it sounds a little cray!).
All the best,
