I tend to start each blog post with a weather update, so let's get that over with. It's finally warming up in Toronto. And with warmer weather comes the inspiration to style new outfits and the motivation to photograph them. If you've seen my Instagram you know I've been sporting mostly black/white/grey for the last six months or so. I really wanted to switch up my wardrobe for Spring, so when I was presented with an opportunity to work with StyleWe and saw this dress and jacket I knew I had to have them.
There is something comforting about neutrals and monochrome looks. But wearing the same shades over and over again put me in a bit of a creative rut. I felt that even though my Instagram feed looked cohesive, it was not inspiring me to create more content. Adding color to my wardrobe has challenged me to seek color in other places; like in my surroundings (aka a coffee shop) or in books or magazines. I'm excited to have my creative juices flowing again! And quite honestly, it's a bit of a relief to not maintain an all white "feed".
I found it can be quite challenging to style boldly colored/printed pieces so for both outfits I've added staple items from my closet in black to ground the look. I think doing this really made the color pop! I'll definitely use this trick again in the future, maybe with a bright color in an all white outfit? You'll have to stay tuned to see what I come up with.
