I have a pretty healthy collection of winter footwear options; from basic black booties to bright red Chelsea boots and everthing in between. I've decided to bring out my absolute favorites and write a quick guide for those of us who tend to get stuck in a (shoe) rut during the long winter months.
I finally got a pair of black over-the-knee boots, and I feel these truly round out my fall/winter wardrobe. OTK boots are a great alternative to classic heels for dressing up date night outfits. The heel on this particular pair is low enough that they are day-time appropriate as well.
A black bootie is a must have for everyone, whether you live in a cold climate or not. My tip would be to find a pair with some personality. I found these just a few weeks ago at Zara and I fell in love with the boxed patent toe! I love the overall shape of this shoe and the mix of textures makes this pair stand out from the crowd.
I also recommend adding in a few neutral but colourful options to your shoe rotation. I love both of the boots above. The blue one is as ubiquitous to me as a black boot would be. I wear it most days of the week (seriously, check my instagram). I like that it has a brown wooden heel because it adds a casual vibe, making it perfect for pairing with jeans.
On the right side, I have a camel boot that is reminiscent of a Chelsea boot. I like the little bit of elastic on the side because it makes putting them on super easy. I like to wear these with all of my neutral looks or when I'm wearing all black for a subtle pop.
Lastly, I recommend having a flat, lace-up boot for cold/snowy days. The advantage of lace-up boots is that you can wear a thicker sock inside (like I've shown up). I loveee the herringbone detail in the front and the little tassels. I've officially designated this one as my "bum shoe" so whenever I have to walk thru slush or rain, I pick them up.
So that's my roundup, which of these was your favourite?
All the best,
