I've been walking around with a huge smile on my face for the past week. And the only reason is that it's finally warming up in Toronto! Seeing the grass turn green and trees sprout leaves brings me joy at a level that's hard to describe. Another reason for my great mood is that I can finally ditch my jacket at home and wear skirts and dresses. It was a tough winter and I'm so glad to say that it is over.
Spring is here in full bloom and, to celebrate, I spent the whole day (literally 10 hours) at Toronto's High Park. I went on the first day of the cherry blossom peak bloom to experience the gorgeous flowers. Suffice it to say that it was breathtaking! If you live in or near Toronto you should definitely head to High Park and see the blossoms for yourself because pictures simply do not do them justice.
I knew I wanted to photograph an spring outfit with the trees so I chose form over function and wore this flowing pleated skirt and eyelet cropped top. I actually bought the silk skirt over a month ago in a desperate attempt to add a touch of spring in my wardrobe. Of course, I didn't get a chance to wear it until earlier this week. I love the way this skirt fits: the length is perfect because the dipped hem sits just above the ground. I also like the subtle peach color and the fine pleating. I know I will be wearing this piece throughout the summer for occasions ranging from weekend brunches to dinner and the beach.
I like to add a little bohemian flare to my look during the spring and summer so I opted for this beautiful laser cut eyelet crop top. I think the two pair really well together to create a feminine look that is soft and beautiful. The scalloped detailing on the hem and sleeves elevates this shirt and makes it more formal. I also like the slight bell shape of the sleeves because it adds drama and pays homage to the '70s.
I kept my accessories to a minimum and opted for plain brown leather sandals that ground the outfit and make it daytime appropriate. Again, the sandals add to the bohemian vibe.
I chose to wear my hair in its natural curls (as always) and went for a minimal makeup look.
To end, I want to urge everyone to take a day and simply enjoy nature by going to a local park or nature reserve. My day wasn't filled with tons of excitement, but I felt fulfilled and happy by seeing beauty at every step. After all, life is about small moments.
P.S.I'm wearing nearly all of the same accessories as I did in my last fashion post so I will link that right here if you want to know more about those.
All the best,
