Today is the official first day of Spring 2015 so I've decided to share my new favorite lip combination with you. As you may have noticed from the previous beauty posts (everyday makeup and favorite lipsticks), I'm not generally drawn to drugstore makeup products and when it comes to lipsticks I'm just addicted to the more luxurious brands. However, a few weeks ago, I decided to venture into a couple of drugstores, namely Shoppers Drug Mart here in Toronto, and I picked up these two products. To be completely honest, I only picked up the lipstick because it was on sale for nearly half off and I thought the color might be a nice change for spring. On another trip I came across this lip liner which I had heard a few other bloggers rave about so I thought I would give it a try. Let's just say that I am impressed!
The pigmentation on both lip products is beyond incredible, they are smooth and creamy and they don't dry out my lips. The lip liner lasts forever and it is nearly the perfect "my lips but better colour" since it is just a touch more pink than my natural lip colour. I've swatched both of the products in the image below and you can see that the lip liner is totally matte while the lipstick has a slight sheen that is similar to the finish you would get from MAC luster lipsticks. The colours look really great on my medium skin tone and they would suit pretty much everyone else as well.
The way I like to use these products is to line and fill my lips with Rimmel's Exaggerate Lip Liner in "Eastend Snob" and then go over with Maybelline's Color Sensational Lipstick in "Warm Me Up". The lip liner adds TONS of lasting power. Trust me, the lipstick will stay put throughout the day and through your meal! The lipstick is beautiful because it helps to condition the lips and lightens up the colour just a touch so I end up with the perfect pink-nude lip that goes with any makeup look. This lip combo is just perfect for Spring because of the soft pink tones, but it is not super bright so it looks soft and natural enough to wear every day. And of course, since both of these products are from the drugstore they are more accessible!
