Today's outfit is a blend between formal and casual pieces. This look is perfect for the weekend because the faded and ripped jeans give it casual vibe while the structured blouse and heels add elegance. This look can take you from brunch to a night out in the city with ease.
I also wanted to add that my hair here is air dried after using the Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco deep conditioner; if my review did not convince you of its miraculous powers, this should. All I did after getting out of the shower was gently comb through my hair to de-tangle and this is how it turned out! There is no frizz and my curls look voluminous and well defined.
I am really loving the printed top I picked up from Zara's sale section; it is no longer available online, but there might be some available in stores. I like the mismatched prints and all the details. The top flares out a tiny bit at the waist to give a peplum effect; this helps to create an hourglass shape and highlights the waist. I also like this shirt because even though the print is loud, it has some neutral colours like black and navy, so it can easily be paired with basic pieces in my closet such as pencil skirts or skinny trousers.
I opted for this pair of faded and ripped black jeans because they are extremely comfortable and because they add a touch of grunge to this otherwise girly look. The 90s are back in a major way this season and that is going to continue into the fall and winter. I actually DIY-ed this old pair of black jeans by cutting the knees open with scissors and then picking at the threads to make them look even more worn in. However, if ripped jeans are just not your thing, this top would look beautiful with a structured skirt or black cigarette pants.
To help elongate my legs, I chose to wear this beautiful pair of black heels from Zara. I adore the gold cuff around the ankle because it looks great and it stops my feet from sliding around in the shoe so it is easier to walk. I also like that these shoes are mid heel height so that they can be worn all day long.
For accessories I kept it simple with my Kate Spade watch and a few bracelets. I chose these two because they pick up on the colours in the shirt. I am also wearing my evil eye bracelet on my other arm because I am beyond obsessed with it.
Lastly, I wanted to talk a little bit about my makeup. I kept it simple and classy with a bold lip and a cat eye. I decided to go for this pinky-coral-red colour because it is rather unconventional and more summer appropriate. I felt that a red lip would look a little harsh for the day time, especially since the shirt is quite bright.
