The holiday season is one of my favourite times of the year. I love seeing beautifully decorated streets and trees around Toronto and dressing up for holiday parties. There's so much joy and excitement in the air. And the clothes become dressier, sparklier, and prettier. However, I'm not the type of girl to continuously buy special occasion dresses that I know I will only wear once. So, today I'm bringing you two beautiful looks featuring one versatile top.
Let's talk about why I chose this top over others. First, it's black and that means I can pair it with nearly anything. Next, the slightly cropped fit makes it perfect for wearing it with both skirts and pants. The boxy fit makes it modern and lets me all the food I want without having to worry about a food baby. Lastly, the beautiful sequins and gold thread make it ultra festive and perfect for the holiday season.
Look 1: Fancy Pants
For the first look, I've paired the sequin top with this gorgeous pair of sliver silk pants. Let's just take a minute to drool...
This outfit would be a great option for anyone who doesn't like to go the traditional route (i.e. tiny cocktail dresses). You can wear this to a work party or dinner with family and friends and be sure that all eyes will be on you. The luxe fabrics are what really what make this outfit beautiful.
If you are going to a more casual affair, or like to be cozy, just throw on a longline cardigan as I've done here. I like to pile on as many textures into a look so I chose a fuzzy/feathery sweater, but you can always tweak it to your taste.
I polished off this look with a pair of gray heels. These add a height and elongate the leg. You could also add a sliver heels or flats to complete your outfit.
Look 2: A White Christmas
Midi skirts were a huge trend this summer and they will continue to be popular into next year. I have a simple, box-pleated white skirt that is easy to dress up for any occasion. I love white in the winter (can you tell I'm all about breaking rules?) because it looks so fresh and clean and reminds me of the snow. This outfit is perfect for a more formal event and for any dinner with your loved ones.
To pull this whole look together and add a touch of glam, I added a statement cuff. The pearls play off the white detailing on the shirt (and I love pearls in general). I also added a few of my favorite rings.
I added a pair of black shoes to keep the look classic. But I think that these are quite different when compared to other black pumps because they have a pointed toe and lots of cutouts along the sides.
