You've probably heard this a million times, but I'm going to repeat it: taking care of your skin is the most important part of a makeup routine.
When it comes to skin care, I tend to use the same products for years (literally). I think that once you've found a skincare product that works for your skin you should stick to it! My skin is dehydrated and oily-combination; this means that my skin overproduces oil is some spots, like my t-zone, but is dry in other places. It sounds like it might be complicated to deal with, but I really use only a few products.

To cleanse my face I alternate between the Aveeno Daily Exfoliating Cleanser and Lush's Angels on Bare Skin cleanser. I use the Aveeno one on most days because it is a light exfoliator and it does a good job of taking my make-up off; but on days when my skin is feeling dull or parched, I turn to the lush cleanser because it leaves my skin feeling super soft and glowing. I also use a konjac sponge a few times a week for extra exfoliation. Konjac sponges are great because they are made of completely natural fibers and the results they yield can be matched to that from a Clarisonic. To remove stubborn makeup, I use a duo-phase cleanser from Clinque. Lastly, for lazy nights where I really can't be bothered to wash my face, I like to keep a few makeup removing wipes handy. There are tons of great ones out on the market and right now I'm trying out Yes to Cucumbers wipes. These are pretty good for removing makeup, they have a little bit of trouble with mascara and might sting sensitive eyes.
After cleansing I follow up with a moisturizer, my favorite by far is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion for dry skin. I genuinely believe that Clinique makes the best moisturizers for younger skin because they are nonirritating, they re-hydrate the skin and they absorb really quickly so you're not left with a greasy film. I also like to use an eye cream and I'm currently using the Vitamin E Eye Cream from the Body Shop; it doesn't really do anything special other than hydrate the eye area. If you know of any good eye creams please leave your suggestions in the comments! At night, I use these same products but I start with a few drops of Fresh's Seaberry Facial Oil; I find that this product is really hydrating and it leaves my skin feeling plump. Contrary to what you might think, facial oils are great for oily skin and can actually help reduce oil production.
Once in a while, I like to put on a face mask; this is usually when my skin is dull or starts randomly having other issues such as discoloration. My favorite masks are the Lush Fresh Faced Masks; these are made without preservatives and other chemicals so you can feel good about what you are putting on your face. My favorite out of the ones I've tried is the Love Lettuce mask; this left my skin looking nearly flawless--it evened out my skin tone, brightened, and improved my skin's texture. If you haven't tired it yet, you seriously need go to Lush right now and pick it up. I also like the sheet masks from The Face Shop for a quick boost of moisture (so essential during the fall).
